Nothing can prepare you for being told you have cancer, especially at 25.

Overnight, my life changed after being diagnosed with a GIST (Gastrointestinal stromach tumour) - a rare type of sarcoma found in the digestive system. In my case, it was malignant, measuring over 20cm in length. Following a course of oral Chemotherapy, I had surgery to remove the tumour and a large section of the bowel.

With time and the support of amazing friends and family, I recovered. I soon discovered I was unable to digest certain foods and became intolerant to high starch foods – which caused extreme bloating and pain. From that moment, I decided to change my lifestyle and make health my number one priority. After a lot of research, I chose to start eating a diet which concentrates on whole, natural foods and finding healthy alternatives to wheat, gluten, dairy and processed sugars. It’s not a diet for me, but a necessary lifestyle change for my future health. I’ve since discovered my passion for cooking and baking, trying out new recipes and experimenting with different ingredients and flavours.

Shortly after this life-changing experience, I discovered alternative ways to heal the body and mind. Wellness is living a balanced life, healthy mindset, food, fitness, and reducing stress and sleep. I would love to hear from you if you have a question about my health journey, or need help at the beginning of yours.
